Roses of Today

Updated: Jul 6, 2023

Let today be mine, for I might not see tomorrow. May I take time to live before time takes me. The silver thread of life is too fragile to forfeit today for tomorrow. No one knows how much of their life is spent; but this all know: each day there is a little less.

As Longfellow said, “The young may die, but the old must.” Thus the wisest program for living and dying is to make our plans as if we would trod the earth for a thousand years and so walk as if we would take the last step today.

“Live now, believe me, wait not till tomorrow; gather the roses of life today,” Pierre de Ronsard (1524-1585)

“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it,” PSALM 118:24
